The best choice depends on what you are feeling, when it started, and whether there is an injury involved. Avoid using temporary relief as a reason to push through pain that is getting worse.

Stretching and soreness: what to expect

Stretching is often helpful for mobility and relaxation, but it is not a guaranteed cure for muscle soreness. Aggressive stretching of already painful tissue can be uncomfortable and may not improve recovery. Instead, use gentle, controlled range-of-motion work and avoid forcing a joint or muscle into a painful position.
